About Us
As a husband-and-wife team, we are global trotters, family devotees, lovers, best friends, foodies, fútbol (soccer) enthusiasts (and former players), entrepreneurs, investors, and mentors. Together, we complement and balance one another by bringing the dual dimensions of vision and implementation.
Diez is named after our collective passion for international fútbol. Ten (diez) is the number for many of the greatest soccer players in the world. As proud voting fanatic “socios”(members) of FC Barcelona, we are worldwide game chasers who scour the globe for extraordinary international matches in cities big and small. We believe that soccer is an international language and we’ve done the best business and built the closest friendships around the game. We are proud to call Austin and Barcelona our “homes” – even though we are global sojourners who often work for our airplane seat in the sky.
Hector Dominguez
I am a career technologist turned serial entrepreneur and investor. I’m completely fervent and passionate about business ideas and deals, especially if they involve social impact. I’m co-founder and funder of several Austin and Barcelona based technology companies and an investor in Real Estate and CPG ventures. Verdtek, a technology adoption company, was my first entrepreneurial foray. I’m a citizen of the USA, but my native roots are in Mexico City where I was born and lived until the age of 16. I have two amazing teens that are learning the entrepreneurial ropes of life and social impact. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for family and friends.
Maggie Z. Miller
I am Chief Troublemaker for Magnify Impact – a corporate responsibility firm that develops social impact strategies to supercharge companies worldwide. During COVID, my business partner and I penned an Amazon best-selling book, Magnify Your Impact: Powering Profit with Purpose, published by Forbes-Advantage. Previously, I founded an international NGO providing microcredit loans for women in Peru. As a former (and very intense) NCAA Division I soccer player, I enjoy rowdy fútbol games and celebrating goals all over the world. My greatest role is as a sibling to seven and “cool aunt and mentor” to my two bonus kids and 25+ nieces and nephews.
Our Framework
Make it Happen: Take the steps to build your dreams and ideas into real tangible next steps. Hope is powerful, but action must be planted alongside it. When we see people doing their work to build what they believe in, we help them by putting more fuel on their vision, mentoring them to take the first steps, and making critical personal connections to help them soar.
Find Joy: Live the life you want by doing things that bring you joy – after all, we’ve got a precious life to live. We are attracted to those people on every level of life who aren’t complaining or naysaying but blazing a trail with grit and a smile. These people come in all shapes, shades, sizes, and professions – and we are lit up when we encounter them!
Be Authentic: Use your unique superpowers – these are “Rockstar” qualities, core competencies, abilities, skills, and connections that give you a unique perspective on the world. We have the responsibility to mentor, teach, and share with one another and this is how we approach our friendships, relationships, and investments
Be Approachable: Be unpretentious. Our golden rule is don’t be an asshole – and don’t work with assholes. There’s no need for power games, only an honest desire for each other to thrive. That means win-win. We strive to be personal because we seek connections and not just transactions. We think people are awesome and look for those who are looking for us wherever we go.
Make a Difference: Consider your legacy. What will you be known for 100 years from now, after you are gone? Maybe it is through children, business-building, caretaking, or ideas that change the world. Making an impact is part of everyday living – we have the responsibility to each other in the system called Life. We also believe in shared value: the idea that you can have profit and create purpose at the same time.
How We Work
It’s simple. We meet people all over the world through everyday experiences. So – get in touch with us. We’d love to hear specifically how you fit in with our framework above. While we personally love to make new friends, Diez Ventures is geared primarily toward uplifting and fueling impassioned entrepreneurs who either seeding solid ideas and/or growing their companies rapidly. We also love to make connections for established companies who want infusions of time, talent, energy, and capital to invigorate progress and impact.
Since relationships are the core of everything we do, we’ll want to get to know you a bit more than a business deck (although please send those if applicable). Our process is personal and organic.
Our investments may be time, talent, and/or treasure. Meaning, we may share ideas, advice, mentorships, connections, networks, and/or even investment. Perhaps even all of the above.
We don’t charge a fee to get to know each other. That would be asshole, right? Remember, we are real people seeking really cool ideas and people. This is a connection that you can't set a price on. Depending on where our relationship goes together, we’ll decide together what win-win looks like later down the line.
